#Process Post: 3D Character Sculpt
From pieces of projects that maybe don’t make the final cut to little ditties we craft to keep our skills sharp, there are all sorts of things we create at The Banditry Co. that don’t have a home on our portfolio. We’ve been posting them on Insta or Twitter, but we’ve had a number of requests/questions regarding process, so here we are with our first ever #ProcessPost!
Bundled At The Bus Stop
Character Concept & Design
Inspired (if you can call it that) by the recent drop in temperature here in Chicago, we kicked off this project knowing we wanted to design a bundled up burrito of a character.
As for our setting, time never moves slower and you never feel colder than waiting for a bus, so this one goes out to the Chicago commuters that aren’t lucky enough to have a heat lamp at their stop or station.
Once we had the idea, we set Sarah free to illustrate.
Illustration
Character design sketches drawn up in Photoshop, shapes, character turn around and scene design. Found dat perfect color palette using Coolors – we used the colors of the Chicago flag as a jumping off point.
3D Sculpt
With a clear vision and character design, it was time to hit the clay. And by clay, I mean digital clay. We sculpted the character in Zbrush.
